The Maya Lin Arts & Culture Fest this Sunday; Calling Artists, Merchants, Food Vendors, and Vintage Sellers to Participate at West is Best!

I hope all the moms out there had a wonderful Mother’s Day!

What a beautiful weekend it was to celebrate mom, and the West End was certainly bustling. From epic lines at the flower vendor at our weekly Saturday market, to the AAUW plant sale, and packed shops and restaurants, everyone was out, shopping and enjoying their chance to support our local businesses.

As someone who has been in the live entertainment business for a long time, Mother’s Day always signifies the start of the spring/summer festival season.

This weekend, Alameda’s own Maya Lin School will be hosting a joyful celebration of art, culture, and community in the West Alameda Business Association's Healing Garden (1435 Webster St in Alameda, CA).

The Maya Lin Arts & Culture Fest is on Sunday, May 19th from 1-5 pm and is free to the public!

Enjoy live performances by youth artists from Alameda Music Project and Prospect Band. Get your groove on with the  Funk Revival Orchestra. Take in cultural performances from members of the Maya Lin School community.

Treat your taste buds at the Around the World Potluck. Both Calafia Taqueria and Fireside Lounge will also be on site selling yummy tacos and drinks!

Soak in and buy art at The Pup Art Gallery and Little Arts shop, work on collaborative community art projects, participate in cultural learning at activity booths, and get your face painted!

Events like this are exactly why WABA’s Healing Garden was created. It’s our honor to provide a space to celebrate community, music, artists, and local merchants - each of whom are the heart and soul of the West End.

Just a reminder, we are still welcoming artists, merchants, food vendors, and vintage sellers to join us for West is Best, on June 16th, July 4th, and August 18th. Click here to secure your spot today.

And finally, if you are feeling in a “supporting mood” this week, WABA launched its new partnership program. All funds invested in this program will enable WABA to not only enhance the live entertainment experiences and foster creativity but also engage minds and directly contribute to the quality of life for the entire community. You can download our sponsor packet here or email me with questions. I look forward to chatting with you.
