Meet the New Business in the West End — Little Seedlings Therapy Center! Don't Miss Alameda Restaurant Week!
Greetings Friends!
What’s fantastic about this job is that I get paid to wander the district, explore new restaurants, shops, and witness new businesses as they emerge. It’s been enjoyable getting to know some of our merchants, understanding their challenges, and hearing about their successes and frustrations. Depending on which block I choose, I get lots of feedback on problems with trash, pigeon poop, trees and parking, not necessarily in that order.
Yesterday after touring the district with my colleague from the City of Alameda, I popped into Macondo Colombian Fusion because they are participating in Restaurant Week (1545 Webster St.) and picked up a few tasty empanadas. After, I strolled by Embarc (1616 Webster St.) because I had heard that two new shops were opening on the block. I was thrilled to see a craft store and Vietnamese restaurant putting up signs and preparing to open.
Also new to Webster is Little Seedlings Therapy Center (1505 Webster St.). The mission of Little Seedlings is to “nurture seeds of transformation.” Through the expressive language of movement, dance, rhythm, music and art, they provide a supportive and compassionate environment where “these seeds can grow and flourish.” If you have a little seedling at home, check them out.
Lastly, don’t forget that there are still a few days left for Alameda Restaurant Week. Through March 10th, you can indulge your sweet tooth at Cafe Jolie and Donut Petit, savor a little Ensenada at Calfia Taqueria. From the mouthwatering creations of Ceron Kitchen and East Ocean Alameda, to the cozy ambiance of Fireside Lounge, the West End has all your cravings covered.
