Hello Alameda Employers & Recruiters,

The USS Hornet Museum in Alameda is having a Veterans Job Fair on 11/10/16, from 10am to 3pm, and you are encouraged to sign-up to fulfill any of your staffing needs as well as show your support for veterans and military families.  There are tax benefits to hiring veterans, in addition to good will.

Employer registration closes next week, October 28, so do sign up immediately.  Use this online form to sign-up: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/veterans-job-fair-employer-recruiter-registration-form-registration-28161702410. We are looking for a wide variety of industries so forward far and wide. Construction, tech industry, places who need drivers, health care (esp. home health care), education, you name it. Post on your business social media places that you are attending.  There is a special rate for Alameda businesses of just $150! Perks included in the booth fee are the opportunities to tour the ship and come back the next day (Veterans Day) for free with their registration form.

The link with all the info is here: www.uss-hornet.org/veteransjobfair.

Your support of helping these veterans, active military and their spouses connect with a job is meaningful.  We now have a free shuttle service from College of Alameda to the ship to bring in even more jobseekers.  As the home of Naval Air Station Alameda for over half a century, having as many Alameda-based businesses participate in this Veterans Booth Fair is important and a strong sign of community spirit.

Thank you for helping to make this a productive employment opportunity,

2nd Annual Veterans Job & Resource Fair
In honor of Veterans Day 2017, the USS Hornet Museum is hosting a 2nd Annual Job & Resource Fair for veterans, military families and active military soon to be transitioning to civilian jobs. This event is an opportunity to meet face-to-face with top Bay Area companies from a cross-section of industries ready to hire. Even if you are not familiar with a company or hiring agency, still visit their booth as they may have the right job waiting for you at their corporate office despite being, for example, a retail company. Visit our website before the big day to see which employers are participating. Bring copies of your resume, pens and confirmation of your registration. Come ready to be interviewed. Registering is important for faster on-boarding and to give us an accurate head count for refreshments and supplies. Your registration provides an opportunity to tour the ship in between seeing recruiters, as well as admission on Saturday, November 11th for Veterans Day. Due to security reasons, please do not bring large bags or backpacks if at all possible with you. Please share this opportunity with other veterans and military spouses you know looking for work. Thank you. FAQs Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event? I.D. required to match name on registration. Bring your military card or form DD214 (if you still have it), just in case an employer or service provider asks. You may register at the door but we strongly encourage advance registration so we know you are attending. What are my transport/parking options getting to the event? Free parking lot in front of the ship, including many handicap stalls. There will be a free shuttle from the College of Alameda to the ship. How can I contact the organizer with any questions? Outreach@uss-hornet.org. For more information about the museum, visit www.uss-hornet.org. Dress code? If at all possible, dress professionally as if going on an interview. If planning to explore other parts of the ship beyond the Hangar Deck, we discourage wearing open toe shoes for your safety as reaching those decks or levels will require using a ladder. Is there a free shuttle? Yes! Michael's Transportation (one of the employers participating) will run a free shuttle on a continuous loop between the Admin Building of the College of Alameda to the Hornet and back again. This location is near the corner of Webster Street and Atlantic Avenue, a major stop for buses in Alameda.
