The Bank of Marin Alameda Running Festival incorporates a half marathon, 10k, 5k and family fun run. The event will start and finish in the Alameda Point and highlight several beautiful areas around the island. The event will benefit Alameda Meals on Wheels and the Alameda Unified School District.

The Running Festival will be a 2-day festival of events that will include an expo around health and wellness as well as community involvement including local schools, businesses, and charities.

We are very excited to create this incredible event in and around the island of Alameda.   The run will start and end at the Alameda Point and take you along the beautiful estuary running path, Grand avenue, Shoreline drive with San Francisco views, past the USS Hornet and Spirit alley before you finish back at the Expo near the entrance to the point at Main St. This will be a flat and fast course with lots to see.

Come Run the Island!
2nd Annual Veterans Job & Resource Fair
In honor of Veterans Day 2017, the USS Hornet Museum is hosting a 2nd Annual Job & Resource Fair for veterans, military families and active military soon to be transitioning to civilian jobs. This event is an opportunity to meet face-to-face with top Bay Area companies from a cross-section of industries ready to hire. Even if you are not familiar with a company or hiring agency, still visit their booth as they may have the right job waiting for you at their corporate office despite being, for example, a retail company. Visit our website before the big day to see which employers are participating. Bring copies of your resume, pens and confirmation of your registration. Come ready to be interviewed. Registering is important for faster on-boarding and to give us an accurate head count for refreshments and supplies. Your registration provides an opportunity to tour the ship in between seeing recruiters, as well as admission on Saturday, November 11th for Veterans Day. Due to security reasons, please do not bring large bags or backpacks if at all possible with you. Please share this opportunity with other veterans and military spouses you know looking for work. Thank you. FAQs Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event? I.D. required to match name on registration. Bring your military card or form DD214 (if you still have it), just in case an employer or service provider asks. You may register at the door but we strongly encourage advance registration so we know you are attending. What are my transport/parking options getting to the event? Free parking lot in front of the ship, including many handicap stalls. There will be a free shuttle from the College of Alameda to the ship. How can I contact the organizer with any questions? Outreach@uss-hornet.org. For more information about the museum, visit www.uss-hornet.org. Dress code? If at all possible, dress professionally as if going on an interview. If planning to explore other parts of the ship beyond the Hangar Deck, we discourage wearing open toe shoes for your safety as reaching those decks or levels will require using a ladder. Is there a free shuttle? Yes! Michael's Transportation (one of the employers participating) will run a free shuttle on a continuous loop between the Admin Building of the College of Alameda to the Hornet and back again. This location is near the corner of Webster Street and Atlantic Avenue, a major stop for buses in Alameda.
