West End Arts and Entertainment District with West Alameda Business Association present the 1st annual Blues, Brews and BBQ! A community event produced by locals! Home Grown! Come out and support a day of delicious BBQ, frosty local brew and down home blues by some of the original blues masters of Oakland! The West Coast Blues Society's Caravan of All Stars! The event will be kicked off by the WEAE Youth Performers!
Followed by Alameda's own Jim Parodi and friends! Jim Parodi and friends is a collaborative of local professional accomplished talent that donate their time to perform at our nonprofit events! This opening will be followed by the Blues Power Hour beginning at 3pm!

The Bladium will be providing a bouncy house and sports games for the kids. The Encinal High school cheerleaders will be fundraising and providing face painting for the little ones as well as baked goods!

The West End Arts and Entertainment District will be a nonprofit organization working to provide grants for music education in Alameda. We also provide a platform for the students of local instructors to perform at each event! Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy the best Blues, Brews and BBQ around!

2nd Annual Veterans Job & Resource Fair
In honor of Veterans Day 2017, the USS Hornet Museum is hosting a 2nd Annual Job & Resource Fair for veterans, military families and active military soon to be transitioning to civilian jobs. This event is an opportunity to meet face-to-face with top Bay Area companies from a cross-section of industries ready to hire. Even if you are not familiar with a company or hiring agency, still visit their booth as they may have the right job waiting for you at their corporate office despite being, for example, a retail company. Visit our website before the big day to see which employers are participating. Bring copies of your resume, pens and confirmation of your registration. Come ready to be interviewed. Registering is important for faster on-boarding and to give us an accurate head count for refreshments and supplies. Your registration provides an opportunity to tour the ship in between seeing recruiters, as well as admission on Saturday, November 11th for Veterans Day. Due to security reasons, please do not bring large bags or backpacks if at all possible with you. Please share this opportunity with other veterans and military spouses you know looking for work. Thank you. FAQs Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event? I.D. required to match name on registration. Bring your military card or form DD214 (if you still have it), just in case an employer or service provider asks. You may register at the door but we strongly encourage advance registration so we know you are attending. What are my transport/parking options getting to the event? Free parking lot in front of the ship, including many handicap stalls. There will be a free shuttle from the College of Alameda to the ship. How can I contact the organizer with any questions? If planning to explore other parts of the ship beyond the Hangar Deck, we discourage wearing open toe shoes for your safety as reaching those decks or levels will require using a ladder. Is there a free shuttle? Yes! Michael's Transportation (one of the employers participating) will run a free shuttle on a continuous loop between the Admin Building of the College of Alameda to the Hornet and back again. This location is near the corner of Webster Street and Atlantic Avenue, a major stop for buses in Alameda.
