Thank you for Summer Affair mixer in July at Neptune Plaza!
I am amazed at how fast the summer is going!  In July, we had a great outdoor mixer at Neptune Plaza. Thank you to the merchants that participated. Bonfare Market provided pizza that is made fresh in-house every day and excellent spicy chicken wings.  Pagano’s Hardware Store provided sandwiches from Domenico’s Italian Deli on Webster that were the best. Pho & Baguette provided Thai Milk Tea and Egg Rolls. And for dessert, the Coast Guard office provided us with boxes and boxes of Girl Scout Cookies. Thanks to Tanoa Stewart of A-Town Booking Agency and WABA Board member, we had music by Dan Neville's Tropical Trio to make it a perfect event.  Please visit Neptune Plaza for many other merchants/services.

We kicked off our Ambassador program at the event as well.  Thank you to Judy Ho, Edward Jones; Claudia Mar Ruiz, Massage Therapist and Shamanic Practitioner and Bente Peterson, Ka'ana TS, Inc. 2nd Annual Veterans Job & Resource Fair
In honor of Veterans Day 2017, the USS Hornet Museum is hosting a 2nd Annual Job & Resource Fair for veterans, military families and active military soon to be transitioning to civilian jobs. This event is an opportunity to meet face-to-face with top Bay Area companies from a cross-section of industries ready to hire. Even if you are not familiar with a company or hiring agency, still visit their booth as they may have the right job waiting for you at their corporate office despite being, for example, a retail company. Visit our website before the big day to see which employers are participating. Bring copies of your resume, pens and confirmation of your registration. Come ready to be interviewed. Registering is important for faster on-boarding and to give us an accurate head count for refreshments and supplies. Your registration provides an opportunity to tour the ship in between seeing recruiters, as well as admission on Saturday, November 11th for Veterans Day. Due to security reasons, please do not bring large bags or backpacks if at all possible with you. Please share this opportunity with other veterans and military spouses you know looking for work. Thank you. FAQs Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event? I.D. required to match name on registration. Bring your military card or form DD214 (if you still have it), just in case an employer or service provider asks. You may register at the door but we strongly encourage advance registration so we know you are attending. What are my transport/parking options getting to the event? Free parking lot in front of the ship, including many handicap stalls. There will be a free shuttle from the College of Alameda to the ship. How can I contact the organizer with any questions? If planning to explore other parts of the ship beyond the Hangar Deck, we discourage wearing open toe shoes for your safety as reaching those decks or levels will require using a ladder. Is there a free shuttle? Yes! Michael's Transportation (one of the employers participating) will run a free shuttle on a continuous loop between the Admin Building of the College of Alameda to the Hornet and back again. This location is near the corner of Webster Street and Atlantic Avenue, a major stop for buses in Alameda.
