About the West Alameda Business Association

The West Alameda Business Association (WABA) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting and advocating for local businesses in West Alameda. WABA’s mission to advance the growth and success of the business and community environment is accomplished by assisting with economic development, marketing, streetscape improvements, design guidelines and other programs benefiting local businesses. WABA, an official Main Street organization, represents over 175 local businesses through its mission to promote and improve West Alameda via an active partnership of community and business. WABA is a nonprofit organization that supports and advocates for local businesses in the Webster Street Business District and the rest of West Alameda.

As a member of Alameda’s Government Relations Committee, comprised of local business members, associations, Chamber of Commerce and City of Alameda Community Development Department, WABA works with City of Alameda departments to review all permits regarding signs and building facades, to evaluate programs that affect West Alameda transit and traffic, to keep the district clean and well maintained, and to keep tabs on issues concerning local businesses at city, county and state levels.
The WABA Board of Directors and WABA committees are made up of local business owners and/or managers, professionals from a wide variety of fields, and community members dedicated to promoting a safe, clean, flourishing and successful business and community environment.
